Pare Mountains Copper Project

Project Status: Pre -Scoping Study Commenced
Licence/Tenure: Prospecting Lic.
Ownership: National Development Corporation (100%)
Gulf Group Interest: MoU signed  -  Currently establishing JV as manager.

The Pare Mountains copper province is located in the north east of the country (see location fig) and can be reached on the main sealed road for Dar Es Salaam to Arusha. The Railway line from Arusha to Tanga Port runs parallel to the road in the region and the area has grid power, water and telecommunications.

The copper mineralization was initially reported in 1955 and in the later part of the 1950’s limited trenching and diamond drilling was completed. Two small open pits were established to extract ore. A total of 247 tonnes of ore was extracted at an average grade of 10.18% copper. Ore was shipped to both the Kilembe Mines Ltd in Uganda and to the Japanese market (Kwawakami Trading Company Ltd). The major constraint to further development at the time was due to a lack finances.

Proposed program: A pre- scoping study has commenced including a thorough review of previous published and unpublished information is underway. A technical review and site visit planned for mid April. Following pre -scoping study, a decision to move to a pre feasibility study will be made by the JV partners.
